The sketch above illustrates the different types of businesses in the area which will serve as the actors of the scheme. These appeared within the last 60 years and the need for more space as the industries expanded in size is evident in some cases. This resulted in the same businesses having spaces in several random parts of the site which reduces functionality and creates a sense of disorder and confusion. The most significant examples are the ‘Climbing Works’ and ‘The Mini Works’, as well as the ‘Mini Service Centre’ with two owned spaces on different parts of the same street.
An interesting observation was the contrast between some of the services offered by different businesses, the most obvious being the ‘Arborist Tree Care’ and the ‘Robert Sorby’ woodworking business.
