Historic photographs are usually a good way of understanding, or helping to understand a sense of place. Although this photograph is only around 30 years old, two of the initial site features that jumped out at me initially have not changed over that time period. Highlighted in yellow, the rather strange road layout at the junction between Athol Road and Little London Road (captured in the time-lapse video) has remained. The awkward, wedge shape space doesn’t seem to quite work, and could be improved. Secondly highlighted in purple – the house at the top of the hill has remained. Interestingly, in amongst the quite densely planted trees the odd roof protrudes and catches your eye. However this house at the top of the hill is in full view – and what a view they must have too!
