Cars

cars

This uses aerial data (2011) of the area with everything removed except for the cars. I am becoming interested in what comes and goes from the site. From my initial observations, there is a lot of movement. Pipes, trains, people, bicycles and cars – all twisting and passing by. Group work discussions then focussed on the historical influences on the area (and the effect on the smellscape) which asked questions about what has arrived to the area through key past events and what could arrive or leave as a result of future ones. An example of this which stood out to me was the presence of cars. The smell and noise of the engine. The industrial revolution and the production line made this abundance of vehicles possible. As only a rough start I created this visual to study the extent of recent vehicle presence.
