The presence of pipe work caught my interest. It’s clear many of the buildings have been chipped away at or have had parts added to them over the years – with piping creeping out, in, in-between, around the corner and out of sight. Some are braced to the wall and some just punch right through. Some lead into the ground, up above, nowhere or reach out to the river. Moving through the space is much like these pipes. Narrow roads and narrow pavements winding between the pockets of warehouse and workshop areas, over the river and under bridges, ducking away from cars and trucks.
